马德里理工大学（西班牙语：Universidad Politécnica de Madrid,简称 UPM）始建于1971年，是西班牙办学规模最大、历史最悠久的专业性理工大学，同时也是西班牙专攻工程技术与自然科学的顶尖理工大学。雄厚的师资力量和强大的综合实力让马德里理工大学长期保持着在西班牙教育界的领先地位。其建筑、土木、机械、航空航天、能源等工程类专业均处于西班牙顶尖及欧洲的一流水平，在全世界也享有盛誉。学校由几所工程和建筑类学校合并而成，位于西班牙马德里自治区，其大部分校区位于自治区首府也是西班牙的首都马德里。
UPM与多所欧洲顶尖理工科院校组成CESAER [5] 以及 (T.I.M.E) [6] 联盟并开展了广泛而密切的交流与合作，其中包括洛桑联邦理工学院、巴黎高科、慕尼黑工业大学、代尔夫特理工大学、米兰理工大学等各国最顶尖的理工科学府。
马德里理工大学开设有专科、本科、硕士和博士专业，比如农业工程、食品科学与技术、土木工程、矿物工程、地质工程、体育活动科学，创新管理与经济学等等。在西班牙著名的《世界报》2008-2009年度的大学排行榜上，马德里理工大学在71所参评大学中综合实力名列第2位，同时是西班牙理工类最好的大学之一。该校的座右铭是 Ingeniamos el futuro (我们设计未来).作为西班牙顶级的理工类大学，该校培养了多名各个科技领域的教育人员和研究人员，有不少是诺贝尔奖及国家建筑奖获得者，是现代科技的领航人。
马德里理工大学有三个学院是在17世纪成立的。最古老的是建筑设计学院，成立于1752年，海洋建筑工程师学院成立于1772年，矿学工程师学院则成立于1777年的。建筑工程师学院是第一个在19世纪成立的学院，成立于1802年，几乎在半个世纪以后，林业工程师学院也在1848年成立了，之后不久有在1850年成立的工业工程师学院和1855年成立的农业科学学院。其中，工业工程师学院里有：工业科技；化学；电科学和核能。电子通讯工程师学院是UPM在二十世纪（1913年）成立的第一个学院，航空航天工程学院成立于1928年，体育教学中心成立于1961年，还有就是1977年成立的计算机科学学院。UPM最后一个成立的学院是在2005年成立的地理研究学院，主要有大地测量和制图类专业。在已往的150多年里，西班牙建筑和工程学历史中相当大的一部分是由马德拉理工大学前身的各类学院书写的。
马德里理工大学按照法国高等商学院的风格由21所学院组成，其中12所学院属高等技术学院，马德里理工大学下设有信息学系与体育活动科学系2个系；还设有高等建筑技术学院，高等航空技术学院，高等农业技术学院，高等土木工程学院，高等山脉学技术学院，高等航海技术学院，高等电信技术学院，建筑技术学院，航空技术学院，农业技术学院，森林技术学院，工业技术学院，高等矿物技术学院，工业技术学院，公共工程技术学院，高等大地测绘工程技术学院，信息学学院，电信技术学院等18个学院和一所研究院——教育科学研究院。马德里理工大学与400多所欧洲及世界其它地区的大学签有学生交流协议，每个学年有近千名学生到国外的大学去学习，同时有近千名外国学生在马德里理工大学学习。该校与国外大学签署了60多个双学位协议，即学生在其最后的3-4学期到国外大学学习，完成学业后即获双学位证书（一份是本校的，另一份是国外大学的）。
